HVS + CVS

Historic registration and Classic registration explained.

There are two pathways: Historic Vehicle Scheme registration and Classic Vehicle Scheme registration. If you are unsure which applies, complete the enquiry form and our team will guide you.

Historic Vehicle Scheme

HVS

For vehicles 30 years or older that have been maintained or restored to remain as close to original condition as possible.

NSW requirements state that vehicles should remain in original specification, with alterations generally limited to approved safety items, period accessories and period options.

Includes 60 days of personal use each year through the log book scheme, plus approved club events.

Classic Vehicle Scheme

CVS

For vehicles 30 years or older that have been modified and no longer meet the eligibility requirements of the Historic Vehicle Scheme.

The NSW Classic Vehicle Scheme allows eligible modified vehicles to be conditionally registered, provided they meet scheme requirements and any applicable engineering or certification requirements.

Includes 60 days of personal use each year through the log book scheme, plus approved club events.

Registration FAQ

Common registration questions.

+Does my vehicle need to be over 30 years old?

For both HVS and CVS, the vehicle must generally be at least 30 years old and the owner must be a NSW resident. If you are unsure, submit a vehicle enquiry and we will guide you.

+Do I need to be a veteran to join?

No. Frontline Motorsport is veteran-owned and operated, but membership is open to eligible vehicle owners and enthusiasts across NSW.

+Can you guarantee registration approval?

No club can guarantee approval. What we do provide is a clear process, accurate guidance, and the club documentation required for eligible members and vehicles.

+Can younger enthusiasts join?

Absolutely. The future of classic motoring depends on younger drivers, restorers, and collectors entering the scene with the right guidance.
